  1. True. It does leave you vulnerable for a moment, and uses up a lot of energy, but arguably the number of powerups you’ll collect along the way should make up for it.

  2. if your looking for an easy way to get pass the moles without using flashstopper, just use leaf sheild, it kills them in 1 hit and mows down all of them in oyur path, and can sheild you if they come underneath of you

  3. DUN DUN DUUNN!!!

  4. It’s gutsman’s ass!

  5. OH NO! I actually thought the same thing for a while, and I had to laugh when I intentionally threw myself toward the “pit” just to try it out…and survived!

On my first several playthroughs of Mega Man 2, I thought 2nd Wily Castle Boss opened holes wherevers the pieces of wall/floor came out, and so I’d stay on that middle platform and spastically jump around on it. Then one day I collided with the enemy and it pushed me onto the segment of “missing floor” and I realized “Holy crap, I’ve been doing it wrong!”

  7. Who, the tank? The Guts Man tank that has Guts Man sticking out of it?

  8. how do u kno hes gutsman? if so thats pretty cool but id like to kno how u found out.

  9. @MastermewtwoALPHA I wouldn’t say least favorite, but 3 and X4 are MUCH better.

  10. LeonardoROFLCOPTER

I never knew about the fish, thanks!

I actually saw in a video once, someone destroyed the…what is the official name of that boss (the last one in the video) that can only be destroyed by Crash Bombs? Is it Buebeam Trap, like one comment says? Anyway! I saw a video once of someone fighting that boss, and they actually managed to have a single Crash Bomb left, without dying and going back to refill their energy. *Might* have been TAS, though. I think they shot a Crash Bomb at the top of the boss shutters to *barely* take one out.

  12. I knew about the fish, but I’m not sure I every tried anything other than Metal Blade and the Plasma Blaster on the boss. Huh!

  13. Also, the Wily stage 2 boss’ weakness is the Bubble Lead. It’s better to hit it with the Metal Blade, but the Bubble Lead takes out the parts with one hit.

  14. @animegamingdude let me rephrase that. The problem is that, there are so many spots where you need a certain weapon or item to get through a part of the castle. If you run out of energy for that weapon or item, you can’t get through. Then you have to farm weapon energy from enemies that are really hard to beat. The other Mega Man’s had parts like this, but not so many that it’s a problem.

  15. Something that I found and even posted onto the Megaman Knowledge base about the Big Fish.
Did you know that it can also be destroyed with the Crash Bomber?
Call me crazy for not saving the energy for the buebeam trap in stage 3, I was just fooling around.

  16. Mozart wishes he could have created music half as great as the music in this game.

  17. The problem with this castle makes it my least favorite of the series. That problem being? There are so many spots where, if you run out of energy for a certain weapon or item, you have to farm weapon energy from enemies that are really hard to beat. Wily 4 suffers heavily from this. It’s very easy to run out of crash bombs during the boss, and if you do, you have to farm weapon energy from Sniper Joes. D:<

  18. Tee hee.

  19. I…started dancing to the “dedededededede” noise that the leaf shield makes as it spins around you.
    *dances*

  20. It’s a very difficult boss, but the one thing in its favor is that there is a distinct formula for beating it. It takes a lot of patience and practice, but if you think of it more as just navigating around a room than fighting a boss, you can essentially use the same procedure every time to win–if you’re efficient enough, you might not even need an E-Tank to win, even if you don’t dodge a single shot.

  21. MastermewtwoALPHA

Wily 4…ugh! That very stage is the sole reason why Mega Man 2 is my least favorite game in the series. Yet, you LPers make the boss look so easy.

  22. Not a bad idea! I generally do Leaf Shield if I’m really impatient, but I’ll need to try that for next time.

  23. The Quick Boomerang vs. the moles = fun. The arc is perfect for clearing them out, and it uses so little energy, it’s basically infinite.

  24. Hah! I can see that.

  25. I always refer to the Wily 2 Boss as “the Dr. Mario-Boss”, since it reminds me of the bottle with the viruses and pills – kinda funny imagining Mega Man being trapped in a Dr. Mario-Game :)

  26. @GeminiLaser I think that my point was actually what caused it…

Much like a few newer games (Civ 5 anyone?) I think the problem here was that they just put too much into getting the details… They spent so much time working on the little things, slide mechanics, sountrack, etc. that when they finally had to ship the game they hadn’t really gotten that much of it done.

    Whoopsie.

  27. I think that’s possible (and they have released the music in collections since then), but given MM3′s rushed production, I think it’s more likely that the last level was supposed to be longer, at least one of the Skull Compound map screens was supposed to stick around longer, and the ending should have had a little bit more to it.

  28. You know, the music in this game is strange. the Skull Compound map music is about 3 times as long as that heard in game, largely the same with the credits. Also note the incredibly lengthy tune that plays in the room before Gamma and the Fake Wily stage despite being there about 6 seconds combined unless you goof off in there.

I can’t help but think that this soundtrack was made with an official OST release in mind, but there never was to my recollection.

  29. Oops.

  30. Uh…because I’m SO timely about responding to comments, you’ve got three more to watch!

  31. That was so much fun to do.

  32. Doubtful!

  33. I like that part. :)

  34. Not always. Just sometimes.

  35. Mostly!

  36. I should probably clarify further…the kids I knew from the area I lived at the time I recorded this video had missed out on so much of the things I knew from my childhood…like the kid who said Ocarina of Time was the very first Zelda game.

  37. Fwping! (I guess that’s a Lazah noise).

  38. So I’ve been told! I can confirm for a few bosses, though.

  39. Hm…only played a little bit of Sonic Heroes, but the mental picture I have is amusing.

  40. **squish**

  41. Ah, early NES localizations…

  42. Randellmegamanfan89

LOL they spelled Dr.Wily into Dr.Wiley at 5:51

  43. thepokemonletsplayer

    megaman go splat

  44. i once got stuck in wily’s spite as he groveled

  45. Because of my playing style, MM3 is actually one of the more difficult ones for me, but that could also be that I’ve got almost the least amount of practice on it. If you’ve got the right special weapon, the bosses do fall pretty easily, but trying to fight them out of order or with the buster is often very difficult, and I challenge myself to do that frequently. The Yellow Devil in this game I’d say is just as difficult, but there are more ways to give yourself an advantage.

  46. RATEDRKOFRANKLIN2

I think this is the easiest classic MegaMan game. Rush Jet is one of the main reasons why this game is easy. Wily’s stages are simile compared to all of the other games. No boss gave me a challenge. The Yellow Devil MK2 seems much easier than Yellow Devil Mk1 due to the slide and our friend Rush.

  47. Conclusion: So yes, MM3 improves on MM2 in many ways, but that shouldn’t negate MM2′s improvements over MM1. There are many aspects of MM3 that bother me, and while some are simply a matter of opinion, some are actual shortcomings or flaws that most people are willing to overlook.

  48. What we didn’t get in MM3 is a completely fleshed out plot (without the instruction manual, the game only gives us the second half) and a good variety of weapons. The latter is my biggest objective beef with the game; when the majority of your weapons fire forward in a straight line, and the one truly unique full-contact weapon is awkward for anyone who hasn’t completely mastered it to use, one of the biggest reasons to play MM is lost. Subjectively, I have no tolerance for shielded enemies.

  49. Along those same lines, utility items were all but unheard of when MM2 was released, so it was a real treat to graduate from Boring Magnet Beam in MM1 to sleek vehicles that all behaved a little differently. From a gameplay perspective, Rush is only slightly more interesting–the fact that he’s a character instead of an inanimate object is an improvement, but not a massive one when you look at him strictly in terms of gameplay.

Item grinding in MM2 is a problem, though. No argument there.
