Flite Test – Turnigy 9X – REVIEW

Flite Test – REVIEW Turnigy 9X The new and improved Turnigy 9x controler from Hobby King is hard to get a hold of, but well worth it for the price. Josh Bixler gets his hands on this controler for the first time. It’s packed with features that we’re excited to try out. Link to the Turnigy 9X: www.hobbyking.com 9X MANUAL: www.hobbyking.com

    Awesome vids.

  2. Hi have this radio. Is it safe to use it on a .25 size funfly plane or .50 size plane? Please help. Im totally confused. Thank you,

  3. want real fun bind more then one receiver and fly 2 planes at same time

  4. @rcfreak9 yea dual rates and flaps

  5. Just hope you get one they actually did some quality control on it! I got a bad one and man was it bad!

  6. i want one but hobbyking’s 9x’s always have bad reviews and if i get a bad one i dont wana deal with their customer service

  7. Link for the manual specified does not work!

  8. Josh Bixler! When you popped out the module you didn’t take it out all the way. Why? Did you realize that there is a wire holding it there and decided to not take it out so that you would not have to explain it, or did you not know that?

  9. I recently purchased this radio as well. I sure wish I would have payed the extra cash for a dx6i. The QA is horrible. Stickers were coming off, switches were loose… and not to mention the stupid battery. It works, and feels good. But I always hate when its battery charging time. Also, go ahead and pull the module out, its hard wired!!!!

Good luck. Don’t skimp, get the dx6i…

  10. this radio is hit and miss junk i recomended this radio to a friend after seeing this review and guess what ist junk cant get it to work for nothing read the reviews on this radio on hobbyking you will see its all bad news. you get what you pay for. but if this gear was supplied to me free of charge i would say it was ideal too. just tell the truth guys.

  11. The 9X is a great radio for the money but even though the radio is 9 Channels the receiver is only 8 channels. But still a great radio for the money. Another problem with the radio is that HobbyKing always has this radio on back order. Another problem with the radio is it is notorious for shutting off during flight. Reason being is that the battery holder is extremely cheap & flimsy. Mine has powered off 3 times so far. I replaced battery holder with a 2200mah SLOW DISCHARGE Lipo radio battery.

  12. Can this radio be programmed to have the Dual Rates combined to one switch?

  13. Does it have a “c” Tick ??

  14. Scott seems like a guy who thinks he is too cool to fly :S

  15. The module is technically removable, but only if you either cut the tethering cable, or create some sort of connector interface (e.g. SMA). The video should be updated to reflect this.

Hi :) can this transmitter be used with futaba as a buddy box?

  17. Do you think that this transmitter could act as a trainer paired with my DX6i? I have been trying to get a transmitter that will work as a trainer because it seams like the only way to make it work is to get another DX6i. Thanks!

  18. @sterby1 yeah, but they keep saying its 9 ch without specify its just with a 35mhz module PCM of the same brand the 9 channel. something difficult to find.

  19. @wallaguest1 PPM only manages 8 channels, in PCM mode it can use the 9th channel

  20. funny, they say module is removable but they do not pull it away to show its a cable attached. They also keep saying its 9 ch when its in fact 8 ch for 2,4 Ghz.

  21. Question: I just received my 9X in the mail. I am upgrading from a DX6 parkflyer TX. Will the charger for the DX6 work with the 9X? I found that if you pull the battery out of the DX6 and reverse the 2 wires in the white connector (Ill just get a transmitter lipo eventually), the battery for the DX6 will work in the 9X. Any idea if the charger polarity is correct before I fry anything?

  22. Link for the manual…

  23. There’s some HEAVY editing done here (transmitter “field programming” talk)

I have the Turnigy 9X, and really like it. No kidding, it’s almost the best 55 bucks you’ll ever spend if you’re into RC airplanes.

However – if there’s one good thing you can NOT say about it – it’s that it has friendly programming interface. The user menus suck, sure you’ll be able to get your settings right eventually, but it’ll take you (a lot of) time.

  24. @tallguysd

Requirement some technology need only 4 some need more power like 8 cell. Futaba 2.4 radio
for planes and helicopter are 8. Futaba been using 2.4ghz since the 1990′s.

  25. Belly button LOL.
