SNES Longplay [001] Contra III: The Alien Wars

www.longplays.net Played By RickyC Used to play this 2player all the time! awesome game and nothing beats the cannon + Flame thrower combo.

Similar to playing SFC games on an SNES you can play Japanese N64 games on an American N64 rather easily as well.

  1. Looking at the intro… the game was programmed in the early 1990′s. At the time, something like 9/11/2001 was almost unthinkable.

I’m just sayin’ this to anyone watching this and wondering about the Twin Towers in the intro.

  2. the game is awesome but the soundeffects is so weaaak ,

  3. Man, the enemy hitboxes in this game are some of the HARDEST to dodge in the history of videogame.

  4. there is just one thing i cant understand, why are you facing human soldiers when the aliens attack?????

  5. @Madsy9 I know. But the culture of the 1980s and the sci-fi it spawned certainly contributed to this game’s design.

  6. I simply love the top-down levels in Contra III. Top-down with rotation is really unique, and I wish more 2D games would use this game mechanic.

  7. This game was released in the US in 1992

  8. haha, I was on the edge of the chair and going OMG OMG on the missile jumping part, it is indeed very difficult, my brother and I manage to beat the game in hard mode after collecting tons of lives a game before, by killing eyes with the last enemy.

    Amazing longplay!

  9. Oh I read that wow thats cool but kind of unfair to new users :(

  10. Read our channel FAQ!

  11. 31:46?!

    HOW!!?!?!?!?!

  12. I remember back in 1992 I beat this game after one month of very intense play. I was able to go from easy to normal to hard and beat it on one life. ONE!
Oh and I didnt use any game genies or whatever…..

  13. Had to use an emu to beat it (like all contra games). Not ashamed to admit it and i’m impressed with the run.

  14. CrashBurner47

i have made it through this game but i lost a few lives in this game
the game is insanely hard man but it was hella fun

  15. Years of playing this game. Not one win.

  16. If this game doesn’t say something about the 1980s, I don’t know what does.

  17. IgnatzKolisch

I agree with that. I barely squeaked by a win ONE TIME ever. It’s very fun, and it pushes against the edge of being Too Hard (but not quite). Last year, I tried it again, this time without my real SNES (it gave out long ago), using an emulator. Couldn’t manage it, couldn’t get past the part where you have to jump from missile to missile.

This here is a great runthrough with only a couple of deaths! I can’t imagine how practiced this guy has to be.

  18. Does it frighten anyone that one of the main modes of transportation in this game is MISSLE?

  19. Now that’s not the first time you’ve played that is it?If you listen carefully about half way through you can hear the A.I gently sobbing to itself.

  20. best game ever!!!!!good job!!!

  21. I spoke too soon, nevermind… I see him died like 3 times at the end. The player was just too good.

  22. Hmm… Maybe it’s just me, but it looks like the game was being played in God Mode.

  23. SIipknotSuckCock

Great game, but fucking hell, who’s playing it, man or machine? I almost started to feel sorry for the alien scum lol!

  24. One of the best games ever made.

    ((period))

  25. I hate the Contra/Probotector games. Not because they’re bad, but because I suck at them.

  26. @theswitchman90 The only systems you will have to get a step up converter is Pal system. Any lcd tv should take the 50 herts aswell

  27. MelodeeStation

    @theswitchman90
I’m not sure about other systems, but for the N64 it doesn’t really matter. I have an American N64 here and it works with my European power supply. I think it would also work with a Japanese N64 and an American power supply.

  28. AntichristDemoncore

Use the corner on the expansion pack cover to remove it dummy lol

  29. AntichristDemoncore

@MN12BIRD the voltage going out of the plug doesnt matter anyways its all changed once it goes to the super nintendo so the japanese games and receive the same voltage anyways

  30. DarkAvatar1313

    @ScReWaTtAcKeD
I don’t have a N64 to test this but you may only need to swap the back half of the carts, so you would have the correct label.

  31. DarkAvatar1313

A electric toothbrush and some denatured alcohol, will get that sharpie off your cart. I’ve saved a few dollars this way by buying tagged carts at a cheaper rate. It works about 90% of the time. When it doesn’t it usually means it’s not sharpie but a paint marker. Also anything with red ink on it is a lost cause.

  32. i been wanting the tennis game, but i only have the pokemon, mario kart and golf games the japanese versions ofcourse.

  33. ScReWaTtAcKeD

1.just switch the boards of a (well, crappy) USA game
*cough*Superman 64*cough*, and your japan game of choice
    *cough* sin and punishment *cough*
    2. Insert the american cart (w/ japan board) and enjoy!

  34. @theswitchman90 Japan Yes usually but anywhere else usually not. The voltage is different for example from the UK or Austraillia and the plug too. The video signals are different most other country’s using the PAL system we in North America use NTSC and so does Japan. Japan uses 100V AC and we use ~115V AC but that’s usually not an issue. I use my Japanese Famicom, Super Famicom and PCE over here with the Japanese power plugs and they are fine.

  35. theswitchman90

question. If I were to buy a japense, or for that matter any foreign system, could i plug it in and just play it on my tv here in america? And also wheres the best place to get foreign video games?
    Thanks

  36. ibanezshredder33

    God damn didly lol.

  37. mexicanwaluigi

@MN12BIRD yeah if its handheld its called a hand rotary tool. but if you say Dremel a lot of geeks know what your talking about. Just like if you say taser, even though a taser is a brand name its practically synonymous with a stun gun.

  38. mexicanwaluigi

@MN12BIRD Also gamesharks are known to be crummy I have one but it died on me a few months after buying it brand new from the store.

  39. I use the cover to lever the expansion pack out it makes it much easier.

  40. Alexdude99887

    thanks it really helps

  41. @MN12BIRD Yea awesome vids man, but it looks like he really struck a nerve with that gameshark thing huh? lmao

  42. It really would help J if you did have more light when showing things, flashlight or something, but as always good vid.

  43. borninthe90sdecade

the n64 graphics still impress me

  44. @MN12BIRD well, if the dust covers wont work without that piece, wat if i just keep a game in at all times?

  45. This is very helpful, thanks.

  46. greenbike11isadouche

you could also just use a game shark

  47. FUCKING HELPFUL!

thanks a lot for uploading this.

    giving this 5 stars.

  48. mexicanwaluigi

You took a lot more care than I did I just jamed open the game slot and ripped it a new one with my dremil.

  49. mexicanwaluigi

If you move your system around while you play it my freeze on you so you just keep it stationary.

  50. you can use a pen to take apart the 64 also…
