I picked up the 1997 revision of the SNES, the smaller more compact version is usually referred to as the “SNES 2″ but I prefer to call it the “SNES Jr.”
Video Rating: 4 / 5

I also live in Canada and I got mine for $20 without even a scratch on it. The power adapter, a controller, and a game cost me another $20, though. Luckily, I got an excellent controller. For some reason the controller says “Super Famicom” on it… I don’t know what’s up with that. I hooked it up to my old TV via RF with a universal RF adapter. Sometimes it crashes or resets when I nudge it, and deletes all of my save data. Might need to tighten the pins in the cartridge port…
@bogart266 It’s possible (I had someone do it for me) and in my tests it looks better than the original SNES’s s-video out.
@VideoGameWorkshop Yeah same as the older model unfortunately. Nintendo loves those screws.
do you need the gamebit screw for this model to?
@MN12BIRD Wow if that’s possible I’d might pick one up then. One of the biggest reasons why I never got one was because that the Super Nintendo was not exactly the most attractive looking console but this doesn’t look so bad, little bland at the worse.
@bogart266 I’m sure you could. I’ve never looked to see how easy or dificuilt it would be but I’m sure you can do it if you really want.
Is it possible to mod this for s-video?
@SuperDooperChan in the the us its pronounced com-paws-it. in other countries its pom-po-zit. It just depends how you want to say it. ta-may-to, ta-ma-to.
I think I know why there was no rf port on the snes jr. The nintendo 64 came out before the snes jr. and the n64 didn’t have an rf port but you could buy an adapter for the multi out to use rf. so nintendo just tried to make more money
@MN12BIRD or just keep it away from sunlight. i have 4 i keep in my basement that look like brand new =)
Which is better the original super nintendo or the super nintendo 2?
com-pos-it
i live in cali and ive only seen 1
@darkraitrainer590 correction:the 3 in one wasn’t the one showed in the greatest gamecube ever built.
if you get the madcats 3 in one rf switch, you see it’s compatible with the ps2,xbox,and the game cube and n64.they didn’t list it,but the gamecube/n64 part is also compatible with the snes.that was also shown on the video called “the greatest gamecube ever built…” .
I buy 1 SNES Jr to 13 bucks :B
@lsbtrindade Not all of them have the bad plastic mixtures. If you get a lucky one it shouldn’t turn yellow.
How do you keep you SNES (1st model released) so White? Is really clean white as new. Impressive.
I like how your SNES original is a nice white.
Mine is now a yucky yellow, after all the years in the sun (since I had it in my bedroom as a kid and it was by a window which had lots of sunlight)
I got mine for 20
but the adapters were sold separate, and i got a game, so it came to 45$. I might re-sell it…
I heard of the NES2 but never the SNES2
I guess you may be considered the “Old Man who lives alone and buys random consoles to review on youtube” no offense though I’m surprised you’ve become a popular youtube user and not a single comment on one of your videos call you a “Nerd” i wouldn’t call you a nerd either you have all the consoles I’ve always wanted speaking of which i did buy a Super Nintendo today and Super Mario World GREAT game i played it back in early 2000 good times good times
got this today at a thrift shop for $20 i like it!
My SNES had Zelda A Link to the Past in it, and boy was I lucky.
@Divertentevids you mad
