Part 1 of my review/walkthrough of “Mega Man” for the NES. I couldn’t cut it short enough for 2 parts, but the third part is only about 5 minutes, so it’s more like 2 1/2 parts.
Video Rating: 4 / 5
Classic Game Room HD reviews SUPER MARIO BROS. for NES Nintendo Entertainment System from 1985, the game that changed the world! (even more than Cosmic Carnage) The iconic Super Mario Brothers is the video game which helped to life the video game industry out of the funk in the mid 1980′s. It blew away the minds of countless kids in the 80′s who immediately wanted a Nintendo to replace their aging Atari 2600 (boo!). The game was so remarkably well made and different from the vast majority of other home console adventure games back in the day. Awesome music, Japanese style and puffy clouds, mushrooms and flying turtles. Super Mario Brothers was the must play game in its day. This CGR review of Super Mario Bros. on NES has gameplay from Super Mario Brothers showing one and two player game play from Nintendo’s amazing 2D sidescrolling adventure. Super Mario Bros. is available today on Nintendo Wii Virtual Console and other Nintendo platforms.
the rock man cover was A LOT better
the first mega man is the best
and its not so hard like mega man 4 or the ninth part which i hate xD
Mega Man has a new comic !!! Mega Man Mega mix !!!! it’s awesome !!!
the japanese cover looks a hell of a lot better than ours
Chip And Dale was fun
lol “so it ended up with this” *shows the bag mega man cover art* lol thats kinda funny
YES HE IS!
Lmao @ 8:33 “I really hate this Mother Fucker”….you dont know how many times I have said that when playing a game over the years…..lmao
NES Megaman is the best one
Nice Review ^_^
9:25 Bullet Bill?
you talk so boring
My order was a weird one. I did fire, cut, electric bomb, guts, then ice.
The X series were awesome, but the Classic series are intense.
and plus, SagooBoy, the Mega Man anime series on TV was awesome too.
that’s the idea of mega man.
i love this game
LOL I remember the powerarm is Cutman’s weakness. LOL Rock beats scissors.
Yeah…everyone who has ever played this game hates the Big Eye.
Well, that’s the only review I’ve ever watched from you, and it was great. I’ve really liked it. The way you were talking was kind of pleasant to me. Highly rounded analysis. Thorough! Recommended.

Only flaw here is that when you are flashing after being hit, you can still explode if you touch any spikes.
Nah man, that feature is shit. You can die for it. He doesn’t turn round fast enough either. The flaw shows on the first part of Elecman’s stage with the jumps. Mega Man 2 and onwards this has been fixed.
“Also when Megaman runs and comes to a stop. He slides before stopping!” — He doesn’t slide, just portraying his momentum slowing him…it implies physics, and is a pretty ingenuitive concept for a game at it’s time.
woah that end of part 1 thing scared the shit out of me xD nice review
AqualungGameReviews. Yes Megaman is an incredible game; but it does have a lot more flaws then you mention. The pause boss energy rip! Also when Megaman runs and comes to a stop. He slides before stopping! I felt like I was playing on Iceman’s stage all the way through. Also the platforms on Iceman’s stage are majorly buggy!
i played this on the old Gameboy Color as SMB Deluxe, good times, good times
@HareyMon WHAAAAAAAAA
Whats the music in the intro?
i played mario the first time in family computer. contra as well.
i’m even worse at mario and I own 4 side scrolling mario games and 2 3-D games
If you haven’t played this game at least once. You aren’t a true gamer.
o god that be cool if i could play my wii with the nes controller
Better than Pac Man and of course, better than DIG DUG!
Yes…in america! I feel like im just gonna repeat myself now…
@259 yup still the greatest game of all time.
@madcapoperator The Nes opened up the consumer market for consoles again. Gaming would have gone in with Pc’s and other mediums. It was home consoles that nearly went extinct.
My first game. It was like a family effort to beat this. I can still play this for hours on end. There is no better smoking game aside from SMB 2/USA.
iv never owned a snes…never was really interested in it. stuck to my atari 2600 and my megadrive
i did get a snes later on though but i dont have much for it…a good system however, just not my favorite, but i like it
played a bit of super mario brothers but i suck at it…im horrible at the game heh. but yeah i agree, the original mario brothers is just awesome as well
@MrFreedom1scratch its a shame irobot in 1983 didnt catch on…full on 3d filled polygonal game and everything. and 3d didnt didnt really get attention till roughly 10 years later when other polygon games were coming out
@ROSSakaSWIZZY yeah i live in the uk and my mom never even heard of the video game crash, and she was a gamer along with my dad shorty after atari 2600 came out. i mention it to her now and she has no clue what im on about
That means very little, he’s passing that section off as FACT making it out to be a be all and end all worldwide occurance. Don’t get me wrong Nintendo is (well, when its not releasing casual tat for grandparents) my favourite games company so im not personally bashing the system or game. I guess it’s not too important, im just sick of constantly hearing ‘VIDEO GAME CRASH 1983 THEN NINTENDO SAVE WORLD’ over and over and over again when it just isnt the case.
@madcapoperator he’s from american he doesn’t live where you live so the only perspective he has on the issue is his own if the same happened where your from but not in the states you would never know because your not from the states and we realize we are not the entire western world I think your getting that mixed up him talking about his childhood and video games
Why does this guys voice sound robotic?
@259
It was worldwide i think, Atleast i got Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort with my Wii and i live in EU
I opted for the Atari 7800 too, and I used to argue the virtues of the 7800 with a friend of mine in freshman homeroom, while he boasted about how great the Nintendo was. Well, as soon as I played this game, I knew what he was talking about. I saved up enough money from my part time job when I was 14 to buy my very own Nintendo. Good times.
Y’know, I always thought it was strange that Super Mario Bros was the only NES game that looked equal to the arcade version.
idk about atari but they went no where after the 2600, the 2600 was mad sucessful but all their others………..not so much
@oxbowthegreat Wii Sports outsold SMB because it got sales the same way SMB did: it came with the console itself (at least in the US). SMB3 holds the record for most sales that didn’t originally come with the console.
@InsanimationStudios HOW?!? Wii sports was horrible…
The DS verision is amazing
speaking of changing the world when the nintendo 64 came out in 1997 it was 3-D and everyone thinked that was nuts
