Looking back at GUARDIAN HEROES on the Sega Saturn #3 – Top Rated (Today) – Gaming – Canada

The main game is complete, Bowser is vanquished from Kaizo land, but we still have to return to go down the dreaded star road path.

    Nice review. You two made me want this game again. How do we petition to get a re-release? Per a previous post, I’d also pay $50 for this piece of perfection.

    I also don`t understand why the game isn`t so well-known and does not have sequels.
    It is one of the best games I’ve ever played!

    I think this game might have the most amount of endings in gaming history? I must have gone through at least 20 times getting different end bosses every playthrough.

    If this came out on XBLA I’d pay $50 no problem. So sad to have gotten rid of it T_T’

    @kibjohn Awwww is it? Shame that. Still, I managed to bag myself a copy of the Saturn version from Ebay last weekend. It’ll arrive soon (I hope)

    @nicholasthetaylor Yeah, but Guardian Heroes on the GBA was actually more or less of a semi-sequel to the original game I believe. It wasn’t much of a port

    @Commentator9000 No. It’s just that your taste is terrible, rendering your opinion completely worthless.

    Guardian Heroes is one of the most memorable (& favorite) games I’ve ever played. Great review; although one thing I’d like to point out about Saturn disc music: Roughly HALF of my Saturn library has its entire soundtrack playable on CD players… Fighters Megamix, Virtual Hydlide, Virtua Fighter 1&2, Super Street Fighter, MK Trilogy etc all play all (or just about all) songs from the game.

    Fun fact: Guardian Heroes not only runs perfectly on the emulator SSF, but actually looks and runs a bit better than it ever did on the Saturn. Plug in some gamepads, hook your PC up to an HDTV, and party like it’s 1996.

    The game has barely aged.

    You can play most games in your CD Player. Its just that track 1 is the track with the game data, so you skip that. Some games that can’t are due to the music being realtime rendered, but they’ll usually have a sound test option. Also, Guardian Heroes is available on the GBA too! – Excellent review BTW. I like your reviews and the bandana is awesome – first one I’ve seen since Gamesmaster’s Dave Perry!

    I haven’t seen your reviews before but this one, and it was amazing, both of you are truly gamers and know what you are talking about, however there’s a equivocation about some saturn games coldn’t play soundtrack before this game, Virtua Fighter/Daytona Usa for example already had this feature since their release, and many others before Guardian Heroes ok!

    Guardian heroes was my first Sega Saturn game, sadly i was little and didn’t realize what a collectors item it would be and traded it away

    this is STILL by far his best LP simply for the fact that it was one of his earliest rom hacks and he still beat it (plus the angry commentary was pretty lulzy)

    Seamus, I’m getting frustrated just watching you. I would have killed myself before even this point in the game. But at least I’m not as bad as this one kid that goes to my school. He is so whiny. I bet you he would quit as soon as he saw those bullet Bills in the very frist part of the game. Bleh. He actually told a teacher he didn’t know how to answer “What do you think of our country today?” he was all like “Omgggggg. How am I supposed to know what to answer??!! I dont want to get it wrong!”

    haha I started playing this on my emulator and I almost freaked the hell out all over the first person who talked to me, but I didn’t get past the first level. It took me two hours to get past like the first twenty actual steps.
