Today I present to you my first Hardware Review. Here I am reviewing a import from china called the Super 8 Converter from Innovation. It is designed to play 8-bit Famicom and NES games on your Super Nintendo/Famicom system. Enjoy this review and see you next time. Just incase you are wondering, if there is a game in the NES and Famicom slots the Famicom game will run when the 8-bit option is selected. The high resolution scans of the box can be viewed here: gamenexus.110mb.com
@matt29171 I believe it is indeed an NOAC.
This is not a NOIC (nes-on-a-chip)?
@gamemaster14neo Yes Akumajo Densetsu (Japanese version of Castlevania 3) that The Castlevania Dungeon talks about is way better since in japan companies made their own carts (unlike the U.S.) so it had better music and slightly improved graphics because of a chip. Not all Super Famicom games are compatible with the Super 8 and won’t play at all (like some SNES games) thus a mod is needed since the Super 8 is more compatible with NES and Famicom games and that what it’s used for.
@nintendobard Is the japanese version of castlevania 3 better? You can put Super Famicom games right into the super 8 without having to “mod” your snes, thats what I did for my ranma game.
@gamemaster14neo Well with the 72 pin according to Faimicom Dojo even using a Famicom to NES adapter a few game like Akumajo Densetsu (Castlevania 3 import) just will not work at all. I don’t think the Super 8 counts as a clone since it uses the SNES hardware and its own and every NES game I tried worked even the NES games that did not work on NES clones like Castlevania 3. If I could afford Akumajo Densetsu It could work with the Super 8. For Super Famicom I cut the SNES tabs out.
@nintendobard I will look forward to the report.
The 72 pin problems with the original nes can easily be fixed. Plus unlike the nes2 it has composite video.
The super 8 is pretty good but since its clone hardware it doesnt have perfect compatibility.
@gamemaster14neo I’m about to send my Super 8 Converter to JewWario and he’s going to test some Famicom and Super Famicom games for me and see what works and what doesn’t and maybe he has a Famicom Disk System so I see if the adapter fits. I sent him a link to your video so he know what it is. Hopefully he’ll make a video too so the Super to get some more exposure The old NES had problems because of the 72-pin and the NES 2 can’t use a Game Genie but the Super 8 solved my problems.
i have a ?? when playing super famicom games are there ones that have the killer instinct problem and also how do you tell official super famicom games from ones that are not??? i want to start a super famicon collection but the systems are expensive so would it be cheaper to find one of these or just buy the official super famicom???
@gamemaster14neo ahh good news
@rollercoastermaniac2 The super 8 is pretty cool but an original NES is much better since this is just clone hardware and most likely would have some game glitches. Plus it has that line effect. I would imagine getting a real nes would be cheaper too.
damn just today i saw this vid and 1 minut before that bought a NES off of ebay.
@FallOcean88 Yes it will, Infact I played my Ranma Super Battle game on it when I first got it. I believe this product was designed with super famicom in mind since the bottom is in the shape of an sfc cart. It was made region free since it has the proper spaces for the tabs of the Super Nintendo so no console modification is needed.
will this play super famicom games?
@gamemaster14neo I’ve used Castlevania 3 and Paperboy and they work fine and the NES Game Genie works too,but I don’t know if the import Castlevania 3 on the Super 8 since I’m too poor to afford it but it should since actual Nintendo hardware is used it should work,what I want to know if I can use a Famicom Disk System in the Super 8 Famicom slot will work if I plan on getting one cheap,problem is nobody knows Super 8 exist and its so rare to find one.
@MaarioS I plan to test castlevania 3 on the super 8 and the game axe color handheld, I will make a video of it possibly soon.
As for those others games you mentioned I have never heard of them.
Have you tested Castlevania 3 NES or Japan on this thing??? Or have you tested some games with extra sound channels, for example: Mouryou senki Madara or Lagrange point???
@ADAMTHEKILLJOY If it fits it might work but then you are risking some incompatibility running clone hardware on clone hardware.
would it work on fc16 go(super nintendo portable)
@mezabrian it ended up being a faulty super 8 but id assume it would work on a model 2 but you might wanna dig into google for the answer.
@defset
I have a model to also and was thinking of buying this device, So do you suggest I trade my model 2 for the original? or was it a faulty super 8?
I just tryed a super 8 on my snes model 2 and it didnt work(did have a slight ghosting of the game w/a constant horizonal scrolling) so it could just be a faulty super 8 (tryed all the normal cleaning contacts and whatnot)
I couldnt see why not since they have the same cartridge slot and av port in the back, plus the junior doesnt have any sort of design flaw that would cause the top of the unit not to fit.
Would anyone happen to know if this works with the SNES 2, a.k.a. SNES Junior?
@Pro21xx you can easily mod the snes
Yes this device will allow you to play super famicom games. I have used it to play my Ranma 1/2 Super famicom game.
