Watch in High Definition! Classic Game Room HD reviews the original Sega Genesis Model 1 from 1989! When the first 16-bit Sega MegaDrive appeared the world was rocked to its pathetic 8-bit core by an additional 8 more bits of awesome. CGRHD reviews old school hardware and the Sega Genesis is one of our favorite video game systems ever made. Is the Sega Genesis the best video game console created by man (yes)? Watch and you be the judge (yes is the final answer, no judging). With awesome games like Strider, Sonic the Hedgehog and Thunder Force II, the Genesis was the mad fresh gaming system to own in 1990. This Classic Game Room review looks at some of the differences between the model 1 Mega Drive and the model 2 Megadrive. The headphone jack that outputs stereo sound, the composite video wire that sends composite video to your TV. The ability to modify your Sega Genesis for S-video gaming or component video gaming. The 16bit Sega Genesis has a huge variety of games available for it and playing them in stereo with your Model 1 MD is the best way to enjoy side scrollers and SHMUPS. Play Herzog Zwei and MUSHA on the Sega Genesis in high definition (according to the claim on the Genesis, although it really isn’t in HD). Classic Game Room loves the “Genny” and owns several. @XfullmetalRocker ooh cmon. 32x was a disaster
@FRIDAY13TAURUS OMG CAN WE STILL BUY STUFF?!?
@xxl606 No Sega plays Chuck Norris !
@Jerrid3
Sorry for the confusion
No, I meant the SNES RF works for the SNES, but NOT the Genesis, despite the connection looking exactly the same.
I probably should have worded it differently.
@ULtimateTailsFan213 BIG TIME! CALL EM, IT’S TOLL FREE!
“Hello, and thank you for calling Sega of America”
@FRIDAY13TAURUS NO FUCKIN’ WAY! R U SERIOUS!
can you hook up just the mono cables to an hdtv? was just wondering
nice sega genisis
@mireaux7 That was a typo, geez.
@Holothurion you meant 128 bits, not 124. every generation basically doubled the bits: 8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit, 64 bit, 128 bit. of course, once it got up to the “128 bit” era..consoles really werent measured (and are no longer measured) in “bits”, but rather G-flops.
@Jerrid3 He said that he tried to use the SNES’s RF Sitch onthe Genesis to no avail so, as a conclussion, one can assume there are incompatibility issues between accesories.
However, if you use the SNES’s AV cable there should be no problem, as this type of cable is standard for any system.
@mireaux7 While the SNES was to the 4th era what the PS2 was to the 6th, I can safely say that the Genesis was more to the 16-bit age than what the Xbox was to the 124-bit one.
I JUST CALLED THE 1800USASEGA number…STILL IN SERVICE!!!
the sega genesis was to the 16 bit era, what the xbox was to the 6th generation of game consoles.
@Godscarmachine
I did not understand your post. Are you saying that the SNES RF does not work with the SNES that it was designed for, but it works with the Genesis that it was not designed for? That makes no sense. But then you said the SEGA RF worked on the Genesis. But it is suppose to work because both are SEGA products.
@willmill77642
Just go to a video game store that sells old video games. They should have official SEGA ones used or even brand new third party ones. Or depending if you can find a deal, it might just be worth buying a used Genesis system with all wires. Or you can use Ebay as well.
Xbox 360 HD gfx? Ha! Megadrive/Genesis had high definion graphics ~17 years before that crap had it!
(HD is not a description that ages very well…)
dude PLEASE HELP where can i buy that cable you have and what exactly is it called?!?! I lost my cord for this Gensis and cant play it.Everyone tell me its a 8 pin DIN but no store around have it.I tryed radioshack,etc & i even looked on Ebay but nothing?!
0:25 agreed
@Jerrid3
I tried this one time just to see if my SNES RF worked on my Genesis(even though I don’t even us RF on my SNES anymore) It DOESN’T work with the Nintendo one, but the SEGA RF does work with the Genesis. I think it might be a brand thing.
Though to be fair, if you have the ability to use A/V composite video (and the headphone to RCA composite audio converter)you should. It has much better video and audio quality.
i miss the old times but not really big on keeping up with the new stuff so I stick to my 6 generation Video Games Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, XBox!!
@MrLangley59 yes but if it says “High Definition Graphics” it is a model one for sure. And the model which says that has slighty better graphics
@Jallandhara I was just joking I didnt really mean it, I’m not that stupid
@yoshinator2000 no.
does this play all games?
