Classic Game Room HD – BLASTER MASTER OVERDRIVE for Wii review

Classic Game Room HD reviews BLASTER MASTER OVERDRIVE for Nintendo Wii from Sunsoft. This remake of the classic 1988 NES hit captures the spirit and gameplay of the original and adds new features and modifications to SOPHIA. Use a grappling hook and go Bionic Commando style on waves of mindless enemies lumbering around in caves and hover over spaces too wide to jump. Does this re-envisioned Nintendo WiiWare version of Blaster Master have what it takes to live up to the original? This CGR review of Blaster Master Overdrive for Nintendo Wii has gameplay from Sunsoft’s BlasterMaster Overdrive in HD showing game play on Nintendo Wii. Plays with the Wiimote. Drive through caves and crawl out of your tank truck thing to swim and battle end bosses in challenging old school style 2D run and gun end boss battle fights.

@miketh2005 just buy mario allstars saves for all games

  8. @ThenewJAMBEAVER wrong game, budday.

  9. @Skyrift There being no saves in SMB3 is what makes me hate it. Sure it was fun, but I’m not a pro SMB player, so I couldn’t take having to go back to the beginning when I lost all my lives, so I left it. Might play it again with an emulator with real-time save functions. Same with blaster master original.

  10. @Victus6 i felt the controls were fine. it was more gripping than the NES classic, though. often times you needed precision just to get past the first level of edges, because you often over-judged it. in this new one it is very easy.

  11. @Rabbitfish87 prob wont happen soon! the new metroid, other M, seems like its going back to its roots and taking classic 2D gameplay and mixing it with 3D FPS action, so that will please the fans of the classic.

  12. The controls feel stiff and awkward. Maybe they’ll do a new Blaster Master series like they have done and are doing with Metroid.

  13. Always loved the original Blaster Master…for me, it’s still Sunsoft’s crowning achievement. Sure it had a major flaw; The lack of a save or password feature. But hey Super Mario Bros. 3 had that same problem, and gamers the world over still revere that game two decades after its release.

This version looks interesting. Not sure if it’s enough to make me buy a wii, but if I already had one I would definitely pick this game up.

Nice work on the review as always, ClassicGameRoom.

  14. i loved the original nes version and the new wii version…
i was happy to see one of my old school favorites..the nostalgic factor was way up there..when it first came out..i just had to download it asap..if you loved the orignal one, like i did..you will like this game..i recommend it also

  15. Kinda reminds me of shock troopers.
    Now that game owned.
    Hardcore.

  16. I think i can agree on the level designs on the original NES game are better than this game, But i definetly think this game has a few things better than the original like health upgrades for both the side-scrolling and the overhead mode, save points diagnal aiming for both your tank and alex (which wasen;t too hard just took some getting used to) and differnet enemey and weapon types for the overhead view and a bit more boss variety so overall it worth getting this game and the original.

This review reminds of Super Metroid.
    I like Super Metroid.
    I think I’ll like this Game :)

  19. You should review the PS1 Blaster Master. That one is very different, you know, 3D style and all that. And it’s not bad.

  20. Looks nice, would be better if it didn’t have the whole “darker and more realistic” appearance.

  21. I have Blaster Master:Blasting Again™ for the PS1 ive had it for years and never beat it lol

  22. Blaster Master for the win!! ^_^

  23. @Th3Gam3925 He posts a review a day, at least.
