And if you’re really in a happy, festive mood – by all means favourite the video as well

Released in 1994, this sequel to Samurai Shodown has new characters, refined gameplay and amazing visuals inspired by classic Japanese cimema and artwork. This CGR review of Samurai Shodown 2 has gameplay from Samurai Showdown 2 showing SNK fighting game play in action. A re-released Samurai Shodown II is available for Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. Samurai Showdown 2 is on PS2 and can also be found for Neo Geo Pocket, NeoGeo AES and full size Neo-Geo MVS arcade systems.

I have that somewhere, I have the Magazine since Jan 2004
I read on a previous comment that you were planning to sell the CD-I you bought to make a lot of money, how did that work out? Did you make a lot of money? Or did you loose out?
really amazing I often play it during the holidays with my mum and dad they are very good at it. I was lucky and found the game totally free for my sony ps3 from 115 games |DOT| com there are literally hundreds and the best thing is they are all free btw 0:25 to 2:45 was striking
at least the lump of coal can be used in a fire
2:00-2:50 ROCK BAND DRUM STICK
“After this, you get your CD-I and chuck it out the window” Epic Awesomeness XD
This was hilarious. Good job
2:00-2:50 LOL XD
“And then you take your CD-i… and you chuck it out the window!” *CRASH!* I loved that part. It sounded like the CD-i got banged up pretty good.
Going to assume freaking Youtube did something about that cause of copyright. <.< Damn them.
“And after this, You get your Philips CDI, And you chuck it……Out the window……” EPIC!
Actually it did have an annotation…
And do you know what REALLY sucks? The vid that came before this has an audioswap with no captions or annotations explaining what’s going on, damnit!
This guy deserves more views. His reviews are funny.
If I ever find the owner of WMG on the street I will punch him so hard in the face his nose will both bleed and break. His teeth will also fall out.
Are kids these days really so lazy that they have to spell nd instead of and? You would think all of those energy drinks would put some pep in their step Lol. Spelling like that makes people wonder how they were even able to open the laptop, or even more miraculously START the computer…
I have to agree with you I have played that fuckin game and i give it a -2000/5
IT SUCKS DICK.. why waste your time to get a certain number of points then lose snoballs…and when you get the code you only have a few seconds to write it down!
rated a 5
i dont own a cdi i was just joking lol
What did you destroy?
4 real???
Well, I can draw that stupid password in about 6 seconds, but playing for hours?? No break for resting your hands?? I wouldn’t be able to write that fast! It’s just as bad as B-a-r-b-i-e games! :0
The field of flowers reminds me of the Lone wolf and Cub movies
SAMURAI SHODOWN Anthology is one of the best purchases I made this year. Everybody looking at this should pick that up. Hours upon hours of fun!!!!!! ^_^
I am a big snk fan since they were in arcades a long time ago, and this is by far my favorite franchise from snk(though I like their other franchises and games also). I have Samurai Shodown Anthology for ps2 which includes the arcade ports of samurai shodown 1 – 6(sadly no samurai shodown 5 special though) on one disc. I suggest any fan of the series to get ssa, it one of the best snk compilations to date, though the ps2 version has slight slowdown,(continued)
it is not enough to interfere with gameplay much and is very playable. You can also get ssa on the psp, and the wii.
now THIS is the SHIT
@ TatsuMaki
…Not to mention the loading times between matches and Kyoshiro’s rehashed stage song from the first SamSho Neo-Cd instead of the new theme.
The cd-roms are just impure versions is all i’m saying. And nowadays you can get both Samurai Shodown I and II AES carts on ebay for very reasonable prices.
@Shoe3003 So? Its still the same game, right? I wouldnt fork over the extra cash for an AES or MVS cart just because of a few sound effects. Just because it isnt as good doesnt mean it “sucks”
This game blew my town away when it appeared in the arcades
You should play Sam Show. 4! Really the best one! The 3rd is also nice!
I have the Anthology on PS2 and I just love Samurai Showdown. It’s a legacy in itself, and the storyline is always intersting. Gotta love it.
This game is a classic example of kick *** 90′s Japanese stuff. Most people were on Street Fighter 2 (and all the variants thereof) however this crazy game was about using WEAPONS. Swords, armor, boomerangs, thrown objects, even pets used to rend the enemy. Awesome characters like Haohmaru, Ukyo, Genjuro, Hanzo. Awesome females like Nakaruru, Charlotte, or ChamCham!
The cd-rom version sucks because it’s missing some of the important background ambience audio (wind howling for Hanzo’s stage, flames blazing on Gen-an’s stage).
I.m thinking about buying the Neogeo AES version of this game rather than Anthology, CD, Virtual Console, or XBOX Live Arcade.
You can play this with Kawaks, Mame or FB Alpha emulators. All three are sick and have all Neo-Geo games. Mame has all of them. I play all Samsho games like crazy with my X-Arcade stick. So get the emulators. They’re the real deal!
Gen-am is my favourite.
Nicotine is sooooooooo a rip off of the old man Taguane from Ninja Scroll.
But I’ve always wanted to play him in a videogame so I’m sold.
the music is awesome

Dude!!! You absolutely NAILED it with this review!!! I actually had 2 little marks on every stick for the GEO, they were bite marks, so when I lost I would take the stick and bite down on the edge of it…no joke, it was that bad!! This game was in two words…a chess match. It was the most challenging and beautiful thing to look at. A moving masterpiece. Good review, very good!!
