The hallway leading to Death is a nightmare. Ninja Gaiden hard.
1min and 29seconds of painstaking introduction but worth the wait. Dracula OWNED my ass for like an1hr straight. LOL, then I saw someone on youtube wreck him (2nd formation) easlily with just holy water and the whip, I was like “WHAT THE FUCK?” made it look easy but the Count requires great precision and timing, until then your simply FUCKED..NES STYLE.

the mummies- all you have to do is go on the highest ledge and throw holy water and you wont even get hurt once.
frankenstein and igor- keep hitting igor. pretty simple. attack frankenstein when igor jumps away for awhile.
death- super hard. this one gave me trouble.
dracula 1- meh
dracula 2- holy shit! HOLY SHIT! hardest boss!

Great review! I picked up this game long ago from Toys R Us. I remember that after I bought Gradius, Konami games meant QUALITY on NES. When I saw that Castlevania was from the same company I just had to have it! It was a tough game and I did eventually beat it. And I have to say I enjoyed Simon’s Quest too. I still own all three Castlevanias that I originally bought back in the day. But have yet to beat part 3!! After the SNES era, Konami didn’t seem to uphold it’s upper tier status. Wonder why

Funny thing is, Sega may have upped the visuals to some extent, but the NES version blew it’s 16 bit counterpart away in the music department.

theres actually a rom of the SNES version of the game called revenge of the joker which was finished, but not released. i dont download roms but ive heard that its much better than the genesis game, but not quite as good as the NES game.
i know that batman doesn’t use guns now but in the extremely early comics, he did.
It’s very curious, unless you’re focusing on a game that was been widely seen as absolutely terrible or brilliant you tend to talk about the game mostly in a positive light, yet when you come to scoring it you score it with a very respectable grade. To put it simply, while you score the Batman games fairly, your contrast between positive and negative comments during the review seem out of balance. That’s just me out course.
